The benefits of practising Yoga Asanas (Postures) and Breathing (Pranayama) are innumerable as millions of people around the world can testify.

    • Psoriasis
    • Rheumatoid Arthritis
    • Sciatica
    • Shortness of Breath
    • Sinusitis
    • Stomach Ulcers
    • Substance Abuse

With such a wide range of applications and benefits to all who regularly practise, if you use your own practise sensibly you can become your own healer and spiritual guru.

Now that is empowerment!

Of course the tricky bit is; how?

Which postures and breathing techniques should you practise?

How do you safely and effectively get into each posture?

How long should you hold each posture?

How often should you practise?

Should you meditate?

This is where your own personalised program can assist.

Imagine having a program that you can practise every day in the privacy of your own home to develop the areas of your body, mind and spirit that you would like to balance and or improve.

Do you want to lose weight and tone up?

Do you want to be able to become more non reactive to outer stimulus such as a nagging boss or boisterous children?

Do you want to quieten your mind and sleep better at night?

Do you want to worry less and enjoy life more?

Whatever it is you seek the correct practise designed for you can assist in achieving these things.

Attending classes is a wonderful thing to do. Feeding off group energy is very good for our emotional wellbeing and gives us a chance to socialise with like minded healthy people.

But not all classes suit all people.

Everyone is different in their physical, physiological and spiritual make up so if you want to achieve the most benefit from the effort you are putting in to your regular practise, ideally you would be working to your own personal program.

To give you an example; two of the most famous names in Yoga in the West are B.K.S Iyengar and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Iyengar developed his version of Hatha Yoga (Asanas and Breathing) using props and static poses so that anyone of any age or ability could practise and enjoy the benefits of a regular Yoga practice.

Pattabhi Jois developed what is known system known as Ashtanga (another style of Hatha Yoga) which is a free flowing dynamic practise which is like a moving meditation when practised correctly after a few years of devoted practise.

What is little known in the West is that both Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois were trained by the same teacher Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya who was Iyengar’s brother in law and a respected University Professor.

How can it be that two people taught by the same teacher can have completely different styles?

As I mentioned above everyone is different in their physical and psychological requirements and Krishnamacharya would only teach his students individually so that they would obtain maximum benefits from their time and effort investment in themselves.

If it is good enough for Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois I say it ought to be the way that we eventually come to practise our own.

Personalised Yoga Program

When you undertake a Personalised Yoga Program with me you will receive:

An initial 90 minute consultation from which I will make extensive notes about your desired outcomes, physical abilities, time available, previous experience, any physical afflictions that may influence your ability to practise and any other relevant information.

Following this consultation I will work on your program based on our initial meeting and present a program to you the following week in a follow up consultation and run through the program with you which will take 90-120 minutes.

You will be presented with a printed program outlining the objectives of the program which will include photos of the Asanas to be practised.

Where required I will also provide further printed information pertaining to the energetic systems in the body, philosophy and/or recommended reading material that will further enhance your practise.

For a Personalised Yoga Program that you will be able to practise daily for six to twelve months, your investment will be AU$265.00

Subsequent follow up ‘one on one’ sessions (should they be required) will be charged at AU$65.00 per hour.
